LIVESTREAM Spain: Osos Rivas @ Las Rozas Black Demons, March 27, 17:00 CET (11:00 am ET)

The Madrid Derby is back!

The Madrid-based Las Rozas Black Demons (6-0) will host their cross-town rivals the Osos Rivas (4-1) for the final time this regular season. The capital city matchup produced what seemed like the “game of the year” in Spain a month ago as the Black Demons were able to get the win 35-28. Look for this second rivalry game to be even more exciting than the first.

The Osos Rivas offense has been scorching hot, scoring over 40 points per game. The dangerous passing attack led by quarterback Garrett Dellechiaie has been a key part of the team’s success this season. The offense has become even more explosive as the season has marched on with the late additions of running back Adrian Jimenez and receiver Mario Flores. These two play makers, along with veteran speedster Mike Gentili, give the Osos Rivas the ability to score from anywhere on the field. This offense will be tested against a Black Demons defense that gives up a league-best 8.5 points per game.

Dellechiaie is feeling good about the matchup against an athletic Black Demons defense.

“Our offense shows up to work every time we’re on the field. A lot of attention to detail and learning how to play together gave us a lot of confidence to run our offense the way we do. To have success this week we need to have a good practice week and play our game. If we all do our job and execute, we feel we can beat anybody.”

The Osos Rivas defense features a strong defensive line with Mexican Johnny Escobar and new addition Arthur Pinheiro. The two along with defensive back Jorge Ruiz should slow down a Black Demons offense averaging 35 points a game.

The Black Demons are looking to put a cap on their perfect regular season by sweeping their rivals and proclaiming themselves capital city champs. This Black Demons’ team has been especially dominant winning their last two games with a combined score of 75-8. It has been over a month since they’ve played a team with a winning record, so expect some rust in the first half. Look for dynamic quarterback Canadian Chris Merchant and a strong running game to be able to control the clock and put up some points.

Defensively, the Black Demons face the best offense in the league, an offense that has improved immensely since the last time these two teams squared off. It will be a great test for Black Demons defenders. Laz Rosas and former Clemson University defensive back Darius Robinson on the matchup with their rivals passing attack:

“Well, we have to do some of what we did the first game by creating turnovers & not giving up big plays. The success they had in the first game wasn’t due to them but more of our lack of focus in areas at times. If we play our game we will be just fine.”

Tempers could get heated in this rivalry game, as the Osos Rivas look to avenge their loss in February. Last time these teams met it made for must-watch Spanish football. Expect more of same come Saturday.
