The Uppsala 86ers (0-1) will host the Carlstad Crusaders (0-1) in one of two games in Sweden on AFI.tv today.

The defending champion Crusaders have opportunity today to get back on track with a win after a disappointing season opening loss.

86ers athlete Josh Akena played well in the club’s season opener. The veteran running back was back to his typical ways of dragging defenders for extra yards. Veteran receiver Nick Peterson also played well for Uppsala last week as he led the 86ers in receiving yards. The club hopes the addition of these proven vets will help develop some of Uppsala’s next great players.

Fans should expect young quarterback Viktor Wessberg to get more reps in this game as the 19-year-old has shown the potential develop into a great home-grown Swedish passer.

The Crusaders offense is still finding its rhythm, as quarterback Tim Morovick settles in with his new team. Fans can expect this Crusaders offense to play better this week as they matchup against an inexperienced 86ers defense. Look for Morovick to target veteran swede receiver Jacob Bergwall often today.

The Crusaders defensive unit is led by defensive back Darius Lewis. Lewis was last years championship game MVP, his speed and power make him a sure tackler and dangerous return man. If he gets his hands on the ball today look for him to score. The Crusaders defense also features a late addition to the roster, in 6’6″ 280 pound Norwegian defensive lineman Kacper Latowski. Lawtowski’s size and strength could help the Crusaders stop Josh Akena and the Uppsala running game.

Expect the Crusaders to bounce back and win convincingly against an inexperienced 86ers team. The 86ers will aim to use this condensed season to help their young core gain valuable experience and build for the future.
