Minnesota Vikings re-sign Canadian offensive lineman Brett Jones

The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed Canadian center Brett Jones for his third straight season with the team.

The Vikings acquired Jones in August 2018 from the New York Giants via trade in exchange for a 2019 seventh-round draft pick.

Jones suited up in two games last season but was placed on injured reserve. He had started three games at center in 2018 for the Vikings. The 6-foot-2, 312-pound Jones has played in 46 career NFL games through four seasons with 17 of those being starts.

The 28-year-old native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, entered the NFL in 2015 when he was signed by the New York Giants after spending two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders. He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie after his 2013 campaign with the Calgary Stampeders and in 2014 received the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award. Jones played for the University of Regina where he was an All-Canadian offensive lineman for the Rams.
