Munich Cowboys rout Allgäu Comets to move to 3-1 in GFL play

The Munich Cowboys improved to 3-1 in the German Football League with an impressive 53-13 victory over the Allgäu Comets at Dante Stadium in Munich, pulling away early and never allowing the visitors to gain any sustained momentum.

In front of 1,127 fans, the Cowboys delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, dominating on both sides of the ball while showcasing a balanced and explosive offense.

Cowboys strike early

The home team wasted little time setting the tone.

Just over four minutes into the game, quarterback Nick Semptimphelter connected with Gabriel Boccella on a 34-yard touchdown pass. Josef Jung added the extra point, giving the Cowboys a 7-0 lead.

The Comets struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the opening quarter as Munich’s defense consistently controlled field position and limited big-play opportunities.

Munich builds a comfortable lead

The second quarter followed a similar pattern.

Semptimphelter again found Boccella, this time on a 39-yard scoring strike, extending the advantage to 14-0. Later in the quarter, running back Maximilian Mayer broke free for a 29-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 21-0.

Before halftime, Jung connected on a 21-yard field goal, sending the Cowboys into the locker room with a commanding 24-0 lead.

At that point, the Comets had yet to find an answer for either Munich’s offense or defense.

Offense keeps rolling

The Cowboys put the game out of reach shortly after halftime.

Semptimphelter opened the third quarter with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Sebastian Reiner, making it 31-0. The Comets finally got on the board when Brad Jones connected with Chris Lipsey for a touchdown after a catch-and-run play.

Any hopes of a comeback were short-lived.

Semptimphelter answered immediately, finding Tobias Wagner on a swing pass that turned into a 22-yard touchdown. Jung later added a 33-yard field goal as Munich extended its lead to 40-6 heading into the fourth quarter.

Strong finish seals victory

The scoring continued in the final period as Ricardo Knocke caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Semptimphelter to make it 46-6.

Jones and Lipsey connected for a second touchdown for the Comets, but Munich had the final word. Running back Emre Gökce powered in from five yards out to complete the scoring at 53-13.

Semptimphelter spread the ball effectively throughout the afternoon, while Boccella, Reiner, Wagner, and Knocke all found the end zone. Defensively, the Cowboys kept the Comets under pressure and allowed little room for sustained drives.

With the victory, Munich heads into next week’s matchup against the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns carrying plenty of momentum and growing confidence. Meanwhile, the Comets will get ready to take on the equally winless Straubing Spiders.
