NFL announces punishment for Bills DE Joey Bosa before Chiefs game
After a dominant 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers, the Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a crucial Week 9 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. With a 5-2 record, the Bills are looking to build on their recent success, but defensive end Joey Bosa will face a financial penalty following a controversial play in the Panthers game.
Bosa’s tripping penalty
In the closing moments of the second quarter, Bosa recorded a sack on Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton, bringing him down for a 12-yard loss. However, the play was negated by a tripping penalty, which moved Carolina closer to the end zone. Despite the setback, the Panthers failed to capitalize, missing a 32-yard field goal attempt.
As a result of the tripping violation, the NFL announced that Bosa has been fined $12,172. This is the standard fine for a first tripping offense, which can escalate to $17,968 for subsequent violations. Bosa’s fine marks his first since November 2023, when he was penalized $16,391 for roughing the passer.
Looking ahead
With the fine now behind him, Bosa and the Bills are focused on their upcoming clash with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. As they prepare for this high-stakes rematch, the Bills will be eager to maintain their momentum and solidify their position in the playoff race.
