NFL fan reportedly loses $1.4 million bet after Jacksonville Jaguars historic comeback playoff win over the Los Angeles Chargers

According to multiple sources, when the Los Angeles Chargers blew a 27-0 lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL Wildcard Playoff game this past weekend and lost 31-30, one hapless bettor suffered the consequences and watched as his late bet cost him $1.4 million.

On Saturday in the Wild Card round, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had thrown four interceptions in the first half while his team had fallen behind 27-0 to a surging Chargers team. At that point, according to DraftKings Sportsbook, a bettor reportedly placed $1.4m on an in-game money line. As the Chargers led by 27 at the time the fan made the bet, the payout was minimal. All that money was on the line for a mere $11,299 – just 0.8% of the amount wagered.

That’s when Lawrence settled down and helped his team turn the game around, tossing four touchdown passes from that point on leading the Jaguars to an epic, 31-30 comeback win. In completing their remarkable turnaround, the Jaguars became the first team in the Super Bowl era to win a playoff game with a turnover differential of minus-5 or worse. Teams with that margin had been 0-19 but Lawrence never wavered despite his woeful start.

As for the bettor, it was a bitter reminder of the ups and downs of sports.
