Pforzheim Wilddogs make major statement with 28-10 win over Ravensburg Razorbacks
In German Football League South action, the Pforzheim Wilddogs improved to 3-1 with a convincing 28-10 home win over the Ravensburg Razorbacks, who fell to 2-1 after a tough afternoon at KRAMSKI Arena.
Defense digs in early
This one started like a grind, with both offenses having to work for every yard. Ravensburg opened with the ball and picked up an early first down, but the Pforzheim defense settled in quickly and forced the Razorbacks off the field.
The visitors later put together the first real threat of the game, helped by penalties against the Wilddogs, and drove all the way to the 2-yard line. But Pforzheim came up big in the red zone, holding firm and forcing Ravensburg to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead.
Michel sparks the offense
The Wilddogs offense needed a jolt, and Theo Michel delivered it in the second quarter. Facing a key fourth down, Michel launched himself over the middle of the line to pick up the first down, giving Pforzheim the kind of momentum-changing play it had been looking for.
A few snaps later, Michel finished the drive himself, powering in for the game’s first touchdown. Luca Hirschberger added the extra point, putting the Wilddogs in front 7-3.
Pforzheim takes control before halftime
Ravensburg had a chance to answer after a punt mistake and more Pforzheim penalties helped move the ball back near the goal line. But once again, the Wilddogs defense refused to break, stopping the Razorbacks on fourth down near the 1-yard line.
That stand flipped the game. Pforzheim responded with another strong drive, helped by hard running from Michel. Quarterback Dre Harris then found Andy Lehmann in the end zone, sending the Wilddogs into halftime with a 14-3 lead.
Wilddogs finish the job
The second half was played in heavy heat, and Pforzheim leaned into a more controlled approach. Harris kept plays alive with his athleticism, connecting with Luca Faschian helped move the chains.
In the fourth quarter, Harris connected with Faschian for a touchdown to stretch the lead to 21-3. Ravensburg answered with a scoring drive led by William Enneking, and Aniel Buße added the extra point to make it 21-10.
But the Wilddogs closed the door. A deep play to Hirschberger set up Harris, who ran in from the 1-yard line for the final touchdown. From there, the Pforzheim defense managed the final minutes and sealed a statement 28-10 win in German Football League South play.
