The Białystok Lowlanders (4-2) broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter, scoring the final 16 points to defeat the Olsztyn Lakers (3-3) 34-18 and move into third place in the Polish Football League standings.

For three quarters, the two playoff contenders traded blows in a closely contested matchup in Białystok.

Teams battle to a stalemate

The Lowlanders struck first on a rushing touchdown from Brett Pullman, but Olsztyn answered with a touchdown run by Łukasz Markowski.

The home team regained the lead in the second quarter when Szymon Kazberuk found the end zone before Pullman connected with Bernardo Horevitch for a touchdown. The Lakers stayed within striking distance thanks to a touchdown pass from Artur Pazia to Daniel Viger, trimming the deficit to 18-12 at halftime.

Lakers fight back

The visitors continued to battle after the break.

Daniel Viger scored on a rushing touchdown in the third quarter, tying the game at 18-18 and setting up a tense final period between two teams fighting for playoff positioning.

With momentum seemingly up for grabs, the game was still deadlocked entering the fourth quarter.

Lowlanders finish strong

The final quarter belonged entirely to the hosts.

Pullman and Horevitch teamed up for another touchdown to restore the lead before Pullman added a rushing score of his own. Horevitch converted both one-point attempts to extend the advantage.

The Lowlanders then put the finishing touch on the victory when Jakub Radziszewski recorded a safety late in the game.

The 16 unanswered points turned a tied contest into a convincing 34-18 win, giving the Białystok Lowlanders their fourth victory of the season and a valuable boost in the race for playoff positioning.
