Poland: Bialystok Lowlanders re-sign HC Troy Baker

The Bialystok Lowlanders, runner ups in the Polish Football League in 2021, have announced that they have re-signed head coach Troy Baker.

The 36-year-old Baker from California led the Lowlanders to the semifinals in the PFL in 2021 season in his fifth season coaching in Europe. In 2019, as head coach of the Budapest Cowbells in the Hungarian Football League, he achieved the same feat, taking Budapest to the HFL semifinals. He first arrived in Europe in 2015 as the offensive coordinator for the Lura Bulls in Norway, where he helped the Bulls win their first and only Norwegian championship. The following season he served as the offensive line coach for the Zurich Renegades in Switzerland’s National League and head coach of the Junior Renegades. He stayed in Switzerland the following season, moving to the Bienna Jets in 2017 as head coach. He moved to Hungary in 2018 as a special assistant with the Cowbells.

Baker’s college and high school coaching career is extensive and successful. Most recently, he served as a special assistant at Linden High School (California) helping the team reach the playoffs for the first time in 15 years. He was defensive line coach at Kentucky Christian in 2017 after serving as the running backs coach at Evangel University in 2014. He had the same position with Oklahoma Panhandle State University (2013) and his alma mater, Butte College in 2012.  He also worked as the offensive line coach at Trinity Presbyterian (2010, 2011) and Calaveras High School (2006).

Baker is looking forward to returning to the Lowlanders:

“I’m very excited to get another year with the Lowlanders. I am grateful for the management’s belief in me and for giving me the chance to finally get to build a team. We have some unfinished business and hopefully this year if everything goes well we will be able to finish them.”
