Poland’s Bialystok Lowlanders sign Carson-Newman QB Derrick Evans

The Bialystok Lowlanders who reached the Polish final in 2020, have signed Derrick Evans from Carson Newman University (NCAA Div. II) as their quarterback for the 2021 season.

The 6′, 205 pound Evans from Macon, Georgia, finished his Carson-Newman career throwing for 3,093 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for a stunning 1,785 yards and 35 touchdowns which includes 18 in his sophomore season (2017-18). He was named to the All South Atlantic Conference second team three straight years and led the entire conference in touchdowns scored in his sophomore year. That season, he ranked fifth in the nation in yards per completion and 14th in the country in passing efficiency.

During the pandemic delayed and shortened season, the Lowlanders finished with a 4-1 regular season record and reached the final, losing to the Wroclaw Panthers.
