Portugal’s Midseason Touchdown Leaders

With three months left in the season in the Portuguese League of American Football (Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Americano), the divisional leaders are dominating the scoring statistics. The unbeaten Lisboa Devils and Portuscale Dragons top three of four categories.

Passing TDs

The 5-0 Lisboa Devils have not lost a beat as they continue their march to a possible third consecutive title. QB Kyle Nolan (6’6″, 230 lb) from Georgetown University has thrown a league-best 17 TD passes. But Portuscale Dragons QB Awal Umaru (Union College) is not far behind throwing  14 TDS playing out of the wildcat formation. The resurgent Lisboa Navigators are led by QB Andre Monteiro who has thrown 10 TD passes. Brian Lopes of the Porto Mutts (4-0) has tossed 9 TD passes while Cascais Crusaders QB Manuel Farano has thrown 6.

Receiving TDs

Dragons WR Miguel Sousa tops the TD receptions list with 8 while the Devils Bernardo Solipa has 5 so far in five games. Navigators WR Bruce Furtado also has 5 while Devils Bruno Cardoso is fifth with 4.

Rushing TDs

 

Awal Umaru leads the league in rushing TDs with his 14 meaning he has accounted for 168 of the Dragons 237 points scored in five games. Lisboa Devils RB Juzz Tiny is second on the list with 10 rushing TDs while his teammate Willian La’Prado has 7. Cochise Jones (Hudson Valley) of the Algarve Sharks is 4th with 5 TDs while Navigators RB Nelson Fidalgo has 4.

Pick sixes

 

Porto Mutts DB Nelson Fernandes leads the league with two interception returns for TDs with 2 while teammates Ricardo Pinho and Joao Marques have one each. Portuscale Dragons DB  Arthur Brandalise has one while Sharks DBs, David Martins, John Holloway, Filipe Correia and Travonis Garvey all have one. Lourenco Tavares of the Lisboa Devils has one as well.
