Potsdam Royals crush Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 60-0 for fourth straight shutout

The Potsdam Royals (10-1) overwhelmed the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes (3-8) 60-0 at Luftschiffhafen Stadium, piling up 45 first-half points while recording their fourth consecutive shutout in the German Football League.

Royals pour it on early

Potsdam wasted no time taking control. Heiko Bals broke loose for a 15-yard touchdown run before Hugh “Bay” Harvey went to work through the air.

Harvey found Maximilian McLeod from seven yards out for a 14-0 lead, and the Royals defense quickly joined the scoring. Devin Hembry picked off a Kiel pass and took it back for a touchdown, pushing the margin to 22-0 before the opening quarter was over.

Harvey kept attacking in the second. He connected with McLeod for an 11-yard touchdown, then struck again when McLeod turned a 67-yard pass into his third score of the afternoon.

Milan Spiller was next, hauling in a 54-yard touchdown from Harvey. Bals drilled a 34-yard field goal before halftime, sending the Royals into the locker room with a commanding 45-0 advantage.

Kiel slows the surge

The Hurricanes finally found a way to slow Potsdam after the break. Kiel stopped the Royals on fourth down early in the third quarter and later forced their first punt of the game.

The Hurricanes, however, couldn’t turn either stop into points. Penalties and a sack helped derail one possession, while the Potsdam defense kept its shutout streak intact through a scoreless third quarter.

Harvey finishes with five touchdowns

Harvey struck once more in the fourth, hitting Peter Martin for a 15-yard touchdown and his fifth scoring pass of the game. McLeod added the two-point conversion.

With Moritz Richter taking over at quarterback, Potsdam finished the scoring when Richter found Kasim Tiamiu for a five-yard touchdown. Bals kicked the extra point to make it 60-0.

Harvey finished the afternoon with five touchdown passes, three of them to McLeod, as the Royals extended their shutout streak to four games heading into their regular-season finale against the Munich Cowboys.
