Prague Black Panthers sign Zack Greenlee as new QB

The Prague Black Panthers have signed Zack Greenlee from the University of Texas at El Paso, UTEP, as their quarterback for the 2021 Austrian Football League season.

The Black Panthers reached the semifinals in the AFL in 2019 with a 6-4 regular season record where they were eliminated by the Dacia Vienna Vikings. Prague played in Austria’s top league from 2010 to 2016 while also playing in the Czech league (but without import players in the Czech league). They took a hiatus from the AFL in 2017 and 2018 but returned in 2019.

Greenlee had originally signed to play for the Potsdam Royals in the German Football League before the 2020 season was canceled.

The 6’2″, 205 pound, 25 year old native of Stockton, California, spent part of the 2019 season with the GFL team, the Dresden Monarchs. He threw for 3,027 yards and 28 touchdowns in 11 starts with a season-high 395 yards and five touchdowns in a 38-7 win over the Dusseldorf Panther. After transferring to UTEP from Fresno State, over two seasons he threw for 1,513 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 starts. In his senior year, he had seven starts in nine games and led the team in passing yards (818), completions (72), efficiency (93.9) and passing scores (four) and also rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He led the team with 103.6 yards of total offense per game.
