Raiders Tirol sign dual-threat QB Tyler Knoop for 2026 season

The Raiders Tirol have secured their new offensive leader, announcing the signing of American quarterback Tyler Knoop for the upcoming 2026 season.

A proven college performer
Knoop brings a solid collegiate resume to Austria, having played at the NCAA FCS level for five years. The 6-0, 190 pound native of North Richland Hills, Texas spent his first three seasons with the Georgetown Hoyas, where he threw for 2,426 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 396 rushing yards and five scores on the ground, establishing himself as a true dual-threat. For his senior year, he transferred to Stony Brook University and delivered an impressive seven-game stint as starter, throwing for 2,021 yards with 17 touchdowns and only four interceptions while completing 69.2% of his passes.

Turning programs around
What likely caught the Raiders‘ attention was Knoop’s immediate impact at Stony Brook. After taking over as starter in week six, he helped transform an 0-10 team into a playoff contender with an 8-4 record. His standout performance came against Towson when he completed 34 of 40 passes for 387 yards and six touchdowns, earning both CAA Player of the Week and National Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention honors.

Perfect fit for the Raiders
Head Coach Shuan Fatah emphasized that Knoop was their top choice, specifically noting his “exceptionally high football IQ” and athleticism. The quarterback’s ability to inspire a team and his experience in leading successful turnarounds made him an ideal candidate for the Raiders system. Knoop himself expressed excitement about joining the organization, noting he’s “heard nothing but great things about the culture, the fans, and the expectations here.”

For the Raiders Tirol, signing Tyler Knoop represents more than just adding a quarterback—it’s about bringing in a proven leader who has demonstrated he can elevate a team’s performance immediately. His combination of passing accuracy, mobility, and football intelligence makes him a potentially transformative addition to their ELF campaign.
