Ravensburg Razorbacks roll past Straubing Spiders for biggest win of the season

The Ravensburg Razorbacks (5-3) turned in their most complete performance of the season Saturday, overwhelming the Straubing Spiders (0-7) 66-8 in front of 1,548 fans at TeleData Stadium at Lindenhof. The victory strengthened Ravensburg’s position in the German Football League standings as the offense exploded for seven touchdown passes while the defense forced six turnovers and held the visitors to just one score.

Offense finds its rhythm

The game didn’t begin perfectly for the Razorbacks, who opened with a three-and-out while Straubing moved the ball effectively on its first possession before Samuel Mindham ended the drive with a sack.

From there, Ravensburg took over.

Quarterback Broghean McGovern sparked the offense with a pass to Adrian Terwart before Lennies McFerren finished the drive with the game’s first touchdown. McGovern continued to spread the ball around despite rainy conditions, helping set up a field goal by Tim Müller before connecting with Müller and Anthony Harris Jr. for touchdowns later in the first half.

The offense also welcomed back Aidan Enneking, who returned to the field for the first time this season after a lengthy injury absence.

Defense takes control

The Razorbacks defense dictated the game from start to finish.

Nils Wulf came up with two interceptions, while Luca Kauderer and Gerson Barros Lima each recorded sacks as the pressure continued to build on Straubing’s offense. Ben Rashid added a sack that forced a fumble, which Mindham recovered, creating another short field for the offense.

Although the Spiders found the end zone before halftime on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Raleigh Yeldell III to Anthony Earl Green Jr., that proved to be their only scoring play of the afternoon. The Razorbacks defense completely shut down Straubing in the fourth quarter, allowing the visitors no first downs while finishing with three interceptions, three sacks and three recovered fumbles.

Big plays keep coming

The second half quickly turned into an offensive showcase.

McFerren added his second rushing touchdown before McGovern found Terwart, William Enneking, Tim Müller, William Enneking again and Harris Jr. for touchdown passes as Ravensburg continued to pour on the points.

McGovern finished with seven touchdown passes despite throwing one interception, while three receivers—William Enneking, Terwart and Müller—each surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark. The offense piled up 613 total yards, including 554 through the air, while converting 70 percent of its third-down opportunities.

Momentum heading into the break

The emphatic victory gives the Ravensburg Razorbacks their largest win of the season and plenty of momentum heading into a bye week.

After dominating in all three phases, Ravensburg now turns its attention to an important road matchup against the Allgäu Comets. For the Straubing Spiders, the loss drops them to 0-7, though new head coach Sven Dorfner remained confident afterward that his team can still avoid relegation.
