Ravensburg Razorbacks rout Allgäu Comets to stay in GFL South playoff race

The Ravensburg Razorbacks (6-3) turned in another dominant performance Saturday, overwhelming the Allgäu Comets (1-8) 57-6 in German Football League action to collect their second straight convincing victory and strengthen their bid for second place in the GFL South standings.

Fast start sets the tone

The Comets threatened on their opening possession with a deep pass into Ravensburg territory, but the Razorbacks defense stiffened and capped the stop by blocking a field goal attempt.

The offense immediately took over. Quarterback Broghean McGovern orchestrated an eight-play, 82-yard drive before Lennies McFerren punched in a two-yard touchdown. Aniel Buße added the extra point to give the Razorbacks a 7-0 lead.

On the very next possession, Ravensburg needed just one play to strike again. McGovern connected with William Enneking on an 80-yard touchdown pass to double the advantage at 14-0.

Offense keeps rolling

The Razorbacks never let up in the first half. McGovern found Tim Müller on a six-yard touchdown pass to cap an 88-yard drive before hitting him again on a 78-yard scoring strike on the very next possession to stretch the lead to 27-0.

McFerren added his second touchdown of the afternoon on a 19-yard run, giving Ravensburg a commanding 33-0 halftime advantage.

The balanced attack was made possible by the superb work of the offensive line, giving McGovern plenty of time to find receivers all over the field.

Defense dominates again

The Razorbacks picked up where they left off after halftime. Aidan Enneking’s long run helped set up McGovern’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Harris Jr., and the successful two-point conversion to Tim Müller extended the lead to 41-0.

The Comets finally broke through when Brad Jones connected with Gabe Quigley on a 38-yard touchdown pass, but the two-point conversion failed.

Any hopes of momentum quickly disappeared as McGovern answered with another touchdown pass to Anthony Harris Jr., this time from four yards out. McFerren added the two-point conversion to make it 49-6.

Complete team effort

The Razorbacks finished the scoring in the fourth quarter when McGovern found Lukas Rieger on a 48-yard touchdown pass to cap a 104-yard drive. McFerren added another successful two-point conversion for the final 57-6 margin.

McGovern threw touchdown passes to Enneking, Müller twice, Harris Jr. twice and Rieger, while McFerren scored twice on the ground and added two successful two-point conversions.

Backed by a defense that gave the Comets little room to operate for most of the afternoon, the Razorbacks controlled the game from start to finish and continued their strong push toward the GFL postseason.
