Serbia: Kragujevac Wild Boars sign QB Isaiah Green

The Kragujevac Wild Boars, winners of four straight Serbian titles from 2016 to 2019, have announced the signing of former Marshall/Tennessee State University quarterback Isaiah Green for the 2022 season.

The 6’2″, 216-pound, 23-year-old from Fairburn, Georgia spent his junior season (2021) with the Tennessee State Tigers (NCAA Div. I FCS) starting five of the seven games he played completing 76 of 131 passes for 916 yards. Green played two seasons (2018, 2019) with Marshall University (NCAA Div. I FBS) where he threw for 4,897 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Wild Boars head coach Allen Wahlström:

“When I realized Isaiah was available, I reached out immediately, and he responded with interest. At that point it was how do we make this happen. Wild Boars management was great and we worked out the details after an impressive interview. Players with his numbers and talent don’t come along every day. He is that guy who scares defensive coordinators into changing their scheme in an attempt to stop him.

“The first thing I look for in a quarterback is, would this guy scare me… with Zay the answer is unequivocally yes.”

Green was excited by the opportunity to play in Serbia.

Why did you choose the Wild Boars?

Green: I feel like this would be a great chance for me to get a fresh start and get back on the field playing winning football. They offered me a great opportunity and I intend on making the most of it. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and glad it could be with a great organization like the Wild Boars.

What do you know about the level of play in Serbia?

Green: I know there are some good players there, and a couple of good teams that really get after it and compete. I don’t really know much about it, but I expect that the level of play will be high and competitive.

What do you know about the Wild Boars?

Green: When you look into the Wild Boars, you immediately see that they’ve been a powerhouse in the league for quite some time now. They’ve won 9 or 10 championships and have a good fan base. I know they’ve had some small struggles the last couple of years but we’re hoping to change that and get back to winning championships this season.

What do you expect in the top league of Serbia?

Green: I expect to learn more about the culture there and bond and connect with new teammates from different walks of life. Im expecting to gain a new family and compete at a very high level. Most importantly we expect to win, not just games but a championship.

What do you think you bring to the Wild Boars?

Green: I bring leadership, knowledge of the game, experience and an overall different dynamic to the team. There’s a lot I can teach younger guys and there’s a lot I can learn also. I think this will be a great experience and is can’t wait to get after it and compete for a championship!
