Serbia’s SBB Vukovi Belgrade sign Eastern Illinois QB Johnathan Brantley

Serbia’s SBB Vukovi Belgrade have signed Eastern Illinois University quarterback Johnathan Brantley for the 2021 season.

The 6’2″, 205 pound, 22 year old Brantley, a native of Houston, Texas, spent the last two seasons with the EIU Panthers (NCAA Div. 1, OVC) but in 2019 only started the first four games of the season and then sat out the remaining games to use as a redshirt season. In 2018, he started nine games at quarterback and completed 200 of 307 passes for 2,018 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team and set the Ohio Valley Conference and EIU record for consecutive passes thrown without an interception with 230. He passed for a season high 443 yards against Indiana State going 37-of-49.

Brantley played two seasons at Tulane University appearing in six games during the 2017 season with a start at Oklahoma when he was 10-of-17 passing for 101 yards and one interception while he rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns. In 2016, he had two starts against UL Lafayette and Navy when he was 8-of-21 for 51 yards while rushing for 202 yards.
