Spain’s Liga Nacional Regular Season Stats Leaders

With the regular season in Spain finished and playoff berths set, let’s take a look at the players who made a difference for their teams in scoring over the 10 games played.

Points Leaders

The improvement in the Reus Imperials in 2017 who finished second and handed Badalona their only loss, has definitely been a team effort but receiver Nate Stephens has been a huge part of it. He finished the regular season with 138 points scoring a league-leading 20 receiving touchdowns along with two on kick returns (he also threw for one). Badalona’s Hunter Lee was not far behind notching 126 points on 18 receiving and three return touchdowns.

Passing TDs

Sergi Gonzalo is enjoying his best season ever. After stepping back into the starting role as quarterback for the Badalona Dracs this season he has performed superbly. His 48 passing touchdowns accounted for almost 70% of the Dracs scoring. Brady Huber of the second place Reus Imperials threw 32 touchdown passes.

Receiving TDs

One of the reasons the Badalona Dracs lead the league in scoring and touchdowns scored is Hunter Lee from Louisiana Tech University. He is QB Sergi Gonzalo’s go-to receiver and gave secondaries in Spain all kinds of problems.

Rushing TDs

The Reus Imperials received an added offensive injection late in the season after moving receiver Chris Smallwood over to running back. He rushed for five touchdowns in the second last game of the year against the Barbera Rookies and finished with 11. Barbera Rookies running back Cory Soto ended up in second after scoring nine TDs.

Hector Pertegaz of the Valencia Firebats surged to third after a strong second half finishing with eight touchdowns.
