Sweden: Carlstad Crusaders sign dual-threat quarterback Dante Vandeven 

The Carlstad Crusaders of the Superserien in Sweden has signed dual-threat quarterback and Central Methodist University (NAIA) alumnus Dante Vandeven for the 2023 season.

Vandeven most recently plied his trade in the European League of Football with the Stuttgart Surge. After joining the Surge halfway through the season due to injury, Vandeven exploded onto the scene racking up 1,077 yards through the air and three touchdowns and rushing for a further 250 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The 6 ’2″, 210-pound quarterback brings experience from Central Methodist University (CMU) in Missouri. As a member of the Eagles, Vandeven was a first-team all-conference passer back in 2018. The Jackson, Missouri, native led the conference in total yards after throwing for 247 yards a game, finishing the season with 20 passing touchdowns.

Prior to transferring to CMU, the 25-year-old played two seasons at Southeast Missouri State University (NCAA, DI). During his first season, Vandeven won conference freshman of the year throwing for 1,568 yards and adding 292 yards on the ground, finishing his freshman campaign with 17 total touchdowns.

Vandeven also spent one season at Missouri Southern State University (NCAA DII) where he split time as a quarterback and receiver. As a passer, he threw for 782 yards and seven scores, while contributing 26 catches for 362 yards and three touchdowns as a wideout.
