Sweden: Örebro Black Knights sign defensive back Jacobe Clement

The Örebro Black Knights have made a significant addition to their roster by signing defensive back Jacobe Clement, a standout from Johnson C. Smith University. As the team looks to bolster its defense amid injury challenges, Clement brings a wealth of talent and experience to the secondary.

A versatile playmaker

The 6-2, 183 pound native of Charlotte, North Carolina was a key player for the 2024 Division II #1 defense, recording 13 pass breakups, four interceptions, and three forced fumbles during his college career. His impressive stats highlight his ability to make impactful plays and contribute to a strong defensive unit.

Head coach Branko Mutic expressed enthusiasm about Clement’s signing:

“It’s not just about strengthening the defense at this point in the season; bringing in Jacobe also gives us another playmaker. His addition boosts the versatility and coverage range of our secondary.”

Strong connections

The 27 year old Clement is not just a talented player; he also has strong ties to the Black Knights. He is good friends with Donovan McConnell (DJ), who is in his second season with the team. The two played together at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and have maintained their friendship despite being miles apart.

“We became brothers from day one and have been locked in since then. Although after Juco we were 20 hours apart, we kept in contact almost every day watching film together, playing video games, and things of that nature.”

Additionally, Clement has a connection to Anthony Ratliff-Williams, which adds to the camaraderie within the team. He recalled meeting Ratliff-Williams during high school playoffs:

“Ant had a field day on us and we got sent home packing, but I’ve always respected his grind as an athlete coming from the same area as me.”

As the Örebro Black Knights prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Jacobe Clement is expected to enhance their defensive capabilities and bring a fresh energy to the squad. Fans are eager to see how this new signing will impact the team’s performance on the field, especially with the strong friendships and connections that Clement brings to the locker room.
