Switzerland: Calanda Broncos dominant in win over Bern Grizzlies

The Calanda Broncos rolled to an easy 34-6 victory over the Bern Grizzlies in the second round of the Swiss American Football league Saturday in Bern, Switzerland.

Calanda quarterback Clark Evans looked impressive throwing four touchdown passes to Leon Fehr, Adrian Suenderhauf and Lukas Lütscher (2). Steffen Haenelt added a rushing touchdown and  Erik Rageth kicked four extra points.

For the Grizzlies, quarterback Doug Webster threw a touchdown pass to Alex Wehrli in the fourth quarter to prevent the shut out.

The Broncos took a 21-0 halftime lead after Fehr hauled in a touchdown pass from Evans early in the first quarter. Haenelt added to the lead early in the second and then Evans connected with Suenderhauf late in the first half.

The onslaught continued in the third quarter as Lütscher grabbed two touchdown passes before the Broncos eased off with a 34-0 lead.

Webster was finally able to find Wehrli late in the game for the lone Grizzlies touchdown.

With the win, Calanda improved to 2-0 in the Swiss league while the Grizzlies are 0-1.
