UFL introduces real-time metrics to enhance fan experience

Imagine being at a football game and instantly knowing the speed of a quarterback’s throw or how fast a ball carrier is sprinting down the field. In the UFL, that dream has become a reality, as fans can now access real-time metrics that enhance their game-day experience like never before.

A new level of engagement

Innovation is built into every aspect of the UFL game experience, and no other football league in the world provides ball velocity, spin rate, and ball carrier speed in real time quite like the UFL. These numbers are presented live on the main venue scoreboard, giving fans a deeper appreciation for the talent on the field. Just like a 100 MPH pitch in baseball turns heads, a ball carrier hitting 20 MPH or a quarterback launching a throw over 50 MPH does the same in football.

Enhancing the fan experience

“Prior to the start of the season, I met with our technology team and we challenged ourselves to find a partner that could enhance the fan experience through innovation,” said Scott Harniman, SVP of Media and Innovation for the UFL. By introducing Sportable’s player and ball tracking data live in venues, the league highlights the exceptional athleticism of its players as the action unfolds right in front of fans.

Impressive player stats

The UFL also tracks unique performance data such as total distance covered, sprint yards accumulated while running 18 MPH or faster, and top workloads. Through five weeks of the 2026 season, UFL players have posted impressive numbers that stack up with some of the best in football.

Columbus Aviators quarterback Jalan McClendon leads the UFL with a top pass velocity of 52.50 MPH, closely followed by Defenders QB  Jordan Ta’amu at 52.10 MPH. McClendon also dominates the spin rate leaderboard, boasting the top five highest marks this season, including a maximum spin rate of 775.8 RPM. For context, McClendon’s throw would rank alongside some of the top arms in football, tying with Brock Purdy and surpassing Lamar Jackson’s recorded combine velocity.

In terms of speed, Stallions running back Anthony McFarland leads all UFL players with a top tracked speed of 22.34 MPH, while Renegades wideout Tyler Vaughns follows closely at 22.32 MPH. These numbers are impressive, especially when compared to the fastest recorded ball carrier speed in the NFL last season, which was Indianapolis Colts’ running back Jonathan Taylor at 22.38 MPH.

It seems clear that the UFL is pushing the game forward through innovation and access. Enabling fans to simply look up at the digital scoreboard and keep an eye on the live metrics happening in real time is definitely a game changer.
