Video Highlights of Centre College, Kentucky’s match with the Belfast Trojans of Ireland.

On May 27th, NCAA Division III side the Centre College Colonels, Kentucky made their second trip in 4 years to the Emerald Isle to take on the 4 time National Champions of Ireland in the Belfast Trojans.

The Colonels who play their football out of the Southern Athletic’s Association (SAA) made the trip across the Atlantic with a full squad of players, consisting of over 100 athletes throughout the team as well as over 200 home fans who made the long trip to support their team.

The match ended in a 47-0 victory to the Colonels, who produced a magnificent display that was too much for the Trojans to handle. Their superior speed, athleticism and technique was evident as they displayed a standard of football not seen on Irish soil. Centre’s hurry up offence caught the Trojans off guard on a number of occasions as they raced to a 27-0 lead at the break courtesy of a strong run game and a potent aerial attack.

Despite the scoreline, Belfast did show glimpses of the football that they could produce, notching a number of sacks, tough runs and big stops over the course of the game. However, the talent of Centre College was a joy to behold as they ran out deserved winners in an excellent exhibition game.

Below is a video captured by videographer, Lyndsay McVeigh that shows highlights of both the match and the occasion itself.
