As the Spanish league heads into the second half of the season, let’s take a look at the players who made a difference for their teams in scoring over the five games played.
Points Leaders
The improvement in the Reus Imperials in 2017 has definitely been a team effort but receiver Nate Stephens has been a big part of it. With his 14 touchdowns receiving and two on kick returns (he also threw for one) he leads the league in points and touchdowns scored with 16.
Passing TDs
Sergi Gonzalo is enjoying his best season ever. After stepping back into the starting role as quarterback for the Badalona Dracs this season he has performed superbly. His 26 passing touchdowns account for 75% of the Dracs scoring.
Receiving TDs
One of the reasons the Badalona Dracs lead the league in scoring and touchdowns scored is Hunter Lee from Louisiana Tech University. He is QB Sergi Gonzalo’s go-to receiver and gives secondaries in Spain all kinds of problems.
Rushing TDs
The Valencia Firebats attack relied on the rushing of Ben Sasu early on and although he has been hurt, he still leads the league in rushing touchdowns scored. Barbera Rookies running back Cory Soto has obviously been a key to their offense and has accounted for almost 25% of the points scored this year.
