Austria: Quarterbacks still rule rushing stats after week 4, new passing leader

Four weeks into the season in the Austrian Football League and quarterbacks still top the rushing list as Mödling Rangers QB Dylan Potts has overtaken Garrett Safron from the Dacia Vienna Vikings as the top rusher in Austria. But Safron is now the passing yards leader as Sean Shelton’s Swarco Raiders did not see AFL action.

The surprising Traun Steelsharks and Mödling Rangers now lead with five players in the top 5 in four categories while the Vikings have  four. Then comes the Swarco Raiders and  Ljubljana Silverhawks with two each while the Bratislava Monarchs and Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants have one each.

Passing

Garrett Safron of the Dacia Vienna Vikings has risen to first in passing yardage after throwing for 332 yards in a 63-33 win over he Ljubljana Silverhawks. Safron now has 995 yards and a league leading 16 TDs. Zach Cavanaugh of the Silverhawks now occupies second with his 976 yards while John Urive of the Traun Steelsharks has moved up with 963 yards. Swarco Raiders QB Sean Shelton dropped from first to fourth as the Raiders did not play in the Austrian league. Mödling Rangers QB Dylan Potts is now the fifth leading passer with 809 yards.

Receiving

Matic Tomse of the Ljubljana Silverhawks continues to lead the league in reception yardage with 409 yards and 7 TDs. Mödling Rangers  WR Roman Namdar has jumped from 5th to 2nd after catching 158 yards in passes last week in a 56-40 win over the Steelsharks. Mario Winter from the Traun Steelsharks remains 3rd with 355 yards while Vienna Vikings WR Bernhard Seikovits is 4th with 351 yards and 6TDs . Vikings WR Reece Horn has now enter the list in 5th with 310 yards.

Rushing

For the second year in a row, the leading rusher in Austria is a quarterback, in fact two. This week, Dylan Potts of the  Mödling Rangers has slipped into first, moving past Garrett Safron of the Dacia Vienna Vikings . Potts now has 430 yards rushing while Safron is 2nd with 403. Traun Steelsharks RBs, Felix Stadler and Florian Nöhmayr are 3rd and 4th with 351 and 285 yards respectively. Islaam Amadu of the Vikings has moved into 5th with his 285 yards.

Tackles

Mödling Rangers LB Barron Miller still leads all tacklers in the AFL with 24 tackles with Cameron Smith of the Bratislava Monarchs 2nd with 19. Following him in 3rd is another Ranger, Markus Bernas while Stefan Promitzer of the Graz Giants 4th with 17.5  Traun Steeelsharks LB Markus Grünling is now 5th with 17 overall tackles.
