Belgium’s Ostend Pirates sign former Arizona Wildcat, Miami Dolphin OL Mickey Baucus

One year removed from winning their first ever Belgian title, the Ostend Pirates have taken a step back to respectability with the signing for former University of Arizona and Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Mickey Baucus.

The Pirates won the Belgian title for the first time in their history two years ago but suffered through a dismal 2017 season finishing fourth and getting embarrassed 58-0 in the semifinals by the Brussels Tigers.

The 6’8″, 293 lb  Baucus, a native of Mundelein, Illinois, was a four year starter for the Arizona Wildcats  (NCAA, FBS, Pac 12) at left tackle. After  going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, he was signed by the Miami Dolphins but decided to retire just before training camp. He had been suffering from recurring knee and back issues and had not seen enough improvement to warrant, in his mind, an attempt to play in the NFL.

For the past two years he has worked hard to rehab and helped other players as well at EFT Sports Performance and now feels ready to return to the playing field and according to Twitter is excited.
