CFL Power Rankings: Riders on the rise after OK Tire Labour Day Weekend

OK Tire Labour Day Weekend has come and gone and CFL fans were treated to four exciting matchups.

With The Final Stretch to the playoffs beginning now that Labour Day has wrapped up, there’s movement in the Power Rankings.

Where does every team land in the AMSOIL Power Rankings? Let’s find out.

1. MONTREAL ALOUETTES

LAST WEEK: 1 LAST GAME: 37-30 WIN OVER BC NEXT GAME: AT BC, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: After a Week 13 loss, the Alouettes got back to their winning ways on OK Tire Labour Day Weekend. With the win, Montreal became the first team to lock up a playoff spot, and earned a home playoff date in the process. At 10-2, Davis Alexander and the Als are firmly in control of the East Division and the AMSOIL Power Rankings.

2. EDMONTON ELKS

LAST WEEK: 2 LAST GAME: 38-28 WIN OVER CALGARY NEXT GAME: VS. CALGARY, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: The Edmonton Elks had a massive fourth quarter in the Battle of Alberta on Monday night. The team scored 24 points in the final 15 minutes, completing the comeback to defeat Calgary. The Elks are now 9-3 and will host the Stampeders in the Labour Day Weekend rematch, looking to stay atop the West Division.

3. BC LIONS

LAST WEEK: 3 LAST GAME: 37-30 LOSS TO MONTREAL NEXT GAME: VS. MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: BC’s winning streak ended at five games after falling to the league-leading Montreal Alouettes in the opening game of OK Tire Labour Day Weekend. They won’t have to wait long to try to seek revenge on Alexander and co., as the rematch wraps up the CFL’s Forty Creek Quadruple Header at BC Place this Saturday night.

4. SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

LAST WEEK: 5 LAST GAME: 32-26 WIN OVER WINNIPEG NEXT GAME: AT WINNIPEG, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: Despite the Blue Bombers tying the game with no time left on the clock, it was the Saskatchewan Roughriders who had the last laugh, defeating the Bombers in overtime. Dhel Duncan-Busby had a breakout game for the Riders, showing off the team’s depth at receiver, as they hunt down the Elks for the No. 1 spot in the West. The win over Winnipeg moved the Riders up one spot in the Power Rankings ahead of the teams’ Banjo Bowl meeting this weekend.

5. WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

LAST WEEK: 4 LAST GAME: 32-26 LOSS TO SASKATCHEWAN NEXT GAME: VS. SASKATCHEWAN, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: As mentioned above, the Bombers sent things to overtime with a touchdown with zeroes on the clock in their Labour Day Classic against the Roughriders. They weren’t able to get the win, however, and dropped a spot in the Rankings as Saskatchewan moved up one. The fans in Saskatchewan were a factor on Sunday night, can Winnipeg’s be just as rowdy in the Banjo Bowl?

6. TORONTO ARGONAUTS

LAST WEEK: 7 LAST GAME: 37-22 WIN OVER HAMILTON NEXT GAME: VS. OTTAWA, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: Toronto was in total control of their Labour Day Weekend win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Monday afternoon. With the victory, they secured the two points and jumped up a spot in the Power Rankings. The Argos now sit at .500 and in second in the East Division as they host the winless Ottawa REDBLACKS. Mike Miller’s Boatmen are 2-0 at BMO Field this year, will they make it 3-0 this weekend?

7. CALGARY STAMPEDERS

LAST WEEK: 6 LAST GAME: 38-28 LOSS TO EDMONTON NEXT GAME: AT EDMONTON, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: For much of Monday’s Labour Day Classic against Edmonton, it looked like the Calgary Stampeders were going to give their fans at McMahon Stadium something to cheer about when the final whistle blew. But after a fourth quarter that they are sure to want to forget, the Stamps lost their seventh game of the season. Sitting at the bottom of the West Division, Calgary moves down one spot in the Power Rankings as they look to bounce back in their rematch against Edmonton on Saturday.

8. HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

LAST WEEK: 8 LAST GAME: 37-22 LOSS TO TORONTO NEXT GAME: VS. MONTREAL, SEPTEMBER 18

Worth noting: It’s been tough sledding for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats without Bo Levi Mitchell, as the quarterback carousel continues to spin. Tre Ford started the game against Toronto, but did not return for the second half with an injury. Harrison Frost took over for the final 30 minutes, finding Kurleigh Gittens Jr. for a pair of touchdowns in the loss. The team heads out on a Week 15 bye and will return in Week 16 to take on the Montreal Alouettes with five games remaining on their schedule.

9. OTTAWA REDBLACKS

LAST WEEK: 9 LAST GAME: 45-24 LOSS TO BC NEXT GAME: AT TORONTO, SEPTEMBER 12

Worth noting: The Ottawa REDBLACKS are still searching for their first win of the 2026 season. They were resting on a Week 14 bye and return this week for an East Division matchup against the Toronto Argonauts. Can Ryan Dinwiddie’s team break the goose egg and get their first two points of the year?
