ELF: Hamburg Sea Devils sign former Umass lineman Dominik Behrens

The Hamburg Sea Devils of the European League of Football have signed former Division one lineman Dominik Behrens.

Offensive coordinator Kirk Heidelberg on his newest offensive lineman:

“I am very excited that we were able to get him to join us. His college experience will be very important to us,” 

The 6’5,” 305-pound offensive lineman spent two seasons at the University of Massachusetts (NCAA D1). Behrens played high school football nearby at the Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Massachusetts. His size and skill earned him a three-star prospect ranking and scholarship to the Minutemen. After spending his initial college season on the injured list, Behrens contributed as a member of the scout team in 2021.

Behrens, a Hamburg native explains his decision to leave the college ranks in the states and play in the ELF.

“For family reasons, I decided to give up my scholarship and move back to Hamburg. Since the start of the European League of Football, I have really enjoyed the work of the Hamburg Sea Devils and I want to be a part of that when I’m back home.”

The former D1 lineman joins British linemen Lewis Thomas, Thomas Bongwalanga, and fellow German Robin Fensch on the Sea Devils offensive line. Expect the group to open some holes for running back Glen Toonga this upcoming season as Hamburg aims to get back  to the the ELF title game in 2022.
