ELF: Helvetic Guards sign GFL All-Star DB Ken Hike Jr

The Helvetic Guards of the European League of Football have signed GFL All-Star defensive back Ken Hike Jr. The newest defender become the fourth American import signed to the Zurich, Switzerland based team. Former Detroit Lions and current Helvetic coach Don Clemons on Guards final import:

“Ken has very good size for his position, and he has great ability as a “cover” corner, whether lined up on the outside or in the slot. He brings flexibility to the defense, as we can use him at any position in the secondary. His former teammates and coaches all vouched for his high character, so we’re very excited to have him joining the Guards.”

The 6’1″, 180-pound cornerback played last season for the Dresden Monarchs where he recorded 50 tackles, had one interception, 15 passes defended, and two blocked kicks, while also serving as the team’s kick returner. Hike earned GFL All-Star honors following the stellar campaign.

Prior to coming to Germany, the 27-year old played professionally in the The Spring League for the Conquerors in 2021. Before that he was a standout at Tuskegee University (NCAA DII). As a junior in 2018 he finished with 23 tackles and 2.5 TFL, seven passes defended, and two interceptions.

The tall and talented defensive back becomes the fourth and final US import in Zurich, as the Guards have now signed a eyebrow raising group of American players including NFL and CFL veteran linebacker Jr Tavai, European All Star running back Silas Nacita, and former SEC quarterback Collin Hill. The four American’s join a growing group of European talent coached by former USC and XFL offensive coordinator Norm Chow.
