Italy: Firenze Guelfi bulldoze Lazio Marines in 42-7 victory

In another overwhelming performance, the Firenze Guelfi (6-0) defeated the Lazio Marines (2-5) 42-7, marking their 18th consecutive victory and solidifying their status as the top team in the Italian Football League. The Guelfi showcased their offensive firepower and defensive prowess, leaving little doubt about their championship aspirations.

Early Surprises

The game started with an unexpected twist as the Marines took an early lead. After an interception by Matteo Fajeti, Lazio capitalized with a touchdown run from Francesco Cacciola, followed by an extra point from Jacopo Impallomeni, putting them ahead 7-6. This marked the first time this season that the Guelfi found themselves trailing, but the lead was short-lived.

Guelfi Strike Back

Responding quickly, Firenze regained control with a touchdown pass from Andrea Fimiani to Eystin Salum, followed by a two-point conversion from Cosimo Casati, making it 14-7. From that point on, it was all Guelfi. The defense stepped up, with Marco Fanni intercepting a pass from Seth Morgan, allowing the offense to capitalize again. Fimiani rushed for a touchdown and later connected with Frankie Stola for another score, pushing the halftime lead to 35-7.

Dominance Continues

In the third quarter, Stola caught his second touchdown pass from Fimiani, extending the lead to 42-7 and triggering a running clock. The Guelfi managed the game effectively, rotating players and controlling the pace until the final whistle. With this victory, Firenze closed the regular season undefeated, firmly establishing themselves as the team to beat heading into the postseason.
