France: Thonon Black Panthers sign Canadian All-Star quarterback Brett Hunchak

The Thonon Black Panthers of the French Elite have found their new signal-caller in All-Star Canadian Brett Hunchak. The Black Panthers will look to Hunchak to lead the offense as they finally return to play after a nearly two-year hiatus.

The 6’3″, 195-pound Calgary, Alberta native joins the French powerhouse after spending last summer in a shortened season in Sweden with the Stockholm Mean Machine. Hunchak helped the Mean Machine reach the championship game. Hunchak came to Europe after a storied collegiate career in Canada. As a member of the York University Lions (Toronto), Hunchak set several school records, throwing for 8,288 yards and 39 touchdowns. He was selected as OUA and CIS player of the week and invited to the East-West All-Star Game in 2019. Hunchak has also represented Canada as a U19 player in 2014 as part of the World Championships in Kuwait.

During his college career, Hunchak was invited to training camps with several Canadian Football League teams spending time with the Edmonton Eskimos, BC Lions, and his hometown Calgary Stampeders. This past year, Hunchak was back at his Alma Mater coaching quarterbacks at York University.

After nearly two years without football, the Black Panthers are eager to get back on the field and defend their 2019 title. Hunchak is part of a flurry of signings by Thonon management as they have also added international players Paulo Andrade (OL Brazil) and Kristof Szakacs (DB/K Hungary).
