Gladiators name Marcell Frazier as new defensive line coach

The European League of Football’s Gladiators from the Costa Daurada in Spain have announced the signing of Marcell Frazier as their new defensive line coach.

The 27 year old Frazier, from Portland, Oregon, has spent the past season coaching at the College of The Siskiyous serving as recruiting coordinator and outside linebackers coach as well as being the head track and field coach. Frazier enjoyed an outstanding career as a defensive lineman at the University of Missouri (NCAA Div. I, SEC), finishing his three years (2016-18) with 90 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks in 37 games. After leaving college, he was at camp with the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns and on the practice squad of the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders, before playing with the Seattle Dragons in the XFL a year ago.

Gladiators newly-announced head coach Adam Rita:

“I am extremely pleased that Marcell agreed to join us. He brings recent playing experience from the top college football conference in the United States as well as NFL camps and the XFL. And he has a background in coaching. He will be a welcome addition to the staff.”

General manager Bart Iaccarino:

“We are very happy that Marcell is coming here. For me, two of the most important elements in football are the defensive and offensive lines. Frazier brings an impressive career. He played with the Missouri Tigers at one of the best universities in college football. He has also subsequently been in the NFL and the XFL.

“We all really wanted to have him here. Also, our players can take advantage of his background and enjoy the opportunity to be trained by a coaching staff of the caliber of the one we are setting up step by step”.
