Finland: Kuopio Steelers’ RB Le’Anthony Reasnover continues to dominate as playoffs set to kick off

The unbeaten Kuopio Steelers take on the Helsinki Roosters in the Finnish semifinals tonight in their quest to win their third straight Maple League title and with the league’s top running back Le’Anthony Reasnover in the backfield they enter the game with confidence.

Reasnover won the league rushing title by a wide margin and was definitely a key factor in the Steelers success this season.

However, when he signed to play for the Steelers in March of 2021, fans were not certain what to expect. He came from a small NCAA Division-III school, Eureka College located in Illinois, where although he had a very successful career in his four years leaving with over 6,000 rushing yards, 95 touchdowns and All-American Honors, it was still a small school.

Reasnover dispelled any doubts though, translating his collegiate success to professional play in Finland for Kuopio. After putting up over 1,200 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns in his eight-game rookie year, the bar was set high for him to continue as a dominant force in the Steelers’ rushing attack.

In 2022, his sophomore campaign has not disappointed in the slightest. As the regular season came to an end just last weekend, Reasnover finished with 2,019 total scrimmage yards (1,796 rushing yards) and 30 rushing TDs, with one lone receiving touchdown.

This impressive season from Reasnover, along with unstoppable play from the rest of the team, helped Kuopio finish with an undefeated 12-0 season in the Maple League. The Steelers are now looking to capture their third straight Maple League title, continuing their dynasty.

Kuopio’s first round game in the playoffs against the Roosters will be a rematch of their week 12 matchup when they defeated Helsinki 31-14.

This will be a tough assignment for the Roosters. Reasnover rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns against them last week. Expect more of the same tonight.
