LIVE STREAM: Germany – Berlin Adler v. Dresden Monarchs (3p CEST, 9a EDT)

The Dresden Monarchs (2-0) will take on the 1-2 Berlin Adler at Heinz-Steyer Stadium in Dresden, Germany Saturday May 27 in a game which will tell both teams where they stand.

The Monarchs have played two games against the Hildesheim Invaders so far this year winning both easily. The Adler, on the other hand, have dropped their last two, and the last one in a lopsided 63-0 loss to the Cologne Crocodiles. They won their opening game of the year over the Hamburg Huskies.

Dresden quarterback Garrett Safron is the early season leader in passing completion percentage having completed 79.3% of his passes in the two wins over Hildesheim. In 2016, the Monarchs led the German Football League in offense and look poised to repeat that performance this year.

Berlin has been going through a rebuild since winning the Eurobowl title three years ago. That team was virtually dismantled the following year and Adler management is hoping that the gradual rebuilding process would begin to bear fruit this season. Quarterback Paul Zimmerman and running back Devon Francis lead an offense that is still trying to find its identity.

Whether they can have an impact against a powerful Monarchs team remains to be seen. If they can keep the score close early against Dresden who likes to score quickly and in bunches, it could make a difference for the rest of the season.
