The Nordic Storm (9-1) face the Paris Musketeers (4-6) Sunday in the European Football Alliance semifinals at PSD Bank Arena in Frankfurt, with the Storm looking for their third convincing win over Paris this season and a place in the championship game in Innsbruck.

Storm enters as top seed

The Storm secured the EFA’s No. 1 seed by finishing the regular season 9-1, with their only defeat a 37-34 loss to the Munich Ravens.

They closed the regular season by turning the tables on Munich in emphatic fashion. Quarterback Jadrian Clark threw for 437 yards and was involved in seven touchdowns as the Storm rolled past the Ravens.

Clark has plenty of weapons around him. Brendan Beaulieu provides a dangerous receiving threat, while Glen Toonga finished the regular season as the EFA’s leading rusher.

Paris has seen this offense before

Unfortunately for the Musketeers, seeing the Storm twice has not made stopping them any easier.

The Storm won the first meeting 48-16 in Copenhagen before dominating the return matchup 41-3 in Paris.

The second game was particularly difficult for the Musketeers, who were limited to 174 total yards while quarterback Zach Edwards was sacked eight times.

Musketeers arrive with momentum

Paris, however, earned its playoff opportunity when it mattered most.

After five consecutive losses, the Musketeers needed a victory over the Raiders Tirol in their regular-season finale and responded with a 33-12 win at Tivoli Stadion.

Edwards threw four touchdown passes, including two to Torin Justice, while the Paris defense came up with timely turnovers.

Jason Bofunda gives the offense another option out of the backfield, with Hugo Tekedam and Justice among Edwards’ receiving threats.

Paris defense faces difficult assignment

The challenge for the Musketeers is finding a way to disrupt Clark without allowing Toonga to take over on the ground.

Demarco Artis leads the Paris pass rush, while Ilan Barbaras has been the team’s leading tackler. Both will need to make an impact against an offense that has already caused the Musketeers major problems twice.

The Storm defense brings its own playmakers. Wilfried Pene recorded 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a blocked field goal against Munich last weekend.

One win away from Innsbruck

The first two meetings make the Storm the clear favorite, but neither victory carries over into Sunday.

Paris needs only one upset to erase much of the frustration of a 4-6 regular season. The Storm need one more win over the Musketeers to turn their dominant inaugural campaign into a trip to Innsbruck.
