The Salzburg Ducks (0-4) will be looking for their first win of the 2024 Austrian Football League season when they travel to Mödling to take on the Mödling Rangers (2-4).

This will be the first game of the two-game back-to-back series between the two teams.

The Rangers aren’t having a great season so far, residing near the bottom of the standings, with Salzburg and the Telfs Patriots, below them. In fact, the Rangers two wins were against the Patriots. Their four losses were at the hands of the Danube Dragons (38-0), Graz Giants (13-0),  Swarco Raiders (45-2) and Vienna Vikings (61-17).

Salzburg have opened the season with four straight losses. After they were defeated 20-17 by the Graz Giants they then fell heavily being overwhelmed by the Vienna Vikings 62-0 and by the Prague Black Panthers 34-7. They then were blanked by the Raiders 30-0.

The Rangers sit mid-table when looking at their passing offense and defense, but their running offense and defense is where the problems lie as they have the worst rushing attack in the league and second worse rushing defense. They are going to have to rely on the arm of Shazzon Mumphrey who despite the stats has thrown for the second most yards this season at 991.

The Ducks offense will need to find new life today. Quarterback Kristopher Denton has only thrown for 358 yards and one touchdown in four games. Running back Camron Madden has 216 yards on 50 carries while Denton has rushed for 116 yards and Jan Wiesauer has 58 yards rushing and one touchdown. Still, Salzburg is the fifth leading rushing team in the AFL averaging 96 yards a game and will need it today.
