LIVE STREAM: Duel of Eagles in Mexico’s ONEFA – UACH Águilas v. IPN Águilas Blancas

Mexico’s ONEFA –  Organización Nacional Estudiantil de Futbol Americano (National Student Organization of American Football) – continues with quarterfinal action this weekend as the UACH Águilas takes on IPN Águilas Blancas.

The ONEFA is the league in Mexico made up of mostly the public university American football teams in the nationIn 2015, the Auténticos Tigres took the title defeating the UNAM Pumas CU 16-7.

The structure of the playoffs in the ONEFA is a little challenging even for some experts. The playoff teams are drawn from two conferences, the Green and the White conferences. The Green conference teams are more heavily weighted with the top two teams ranked #1 and #2 overall. The first two teams from the White conference are ranked #5 and 6 in the ranking.

In the two games already played, the Auténticos Tigres overwhelmed the UNAM Pumas 62-7 while the UAEM Potros Salvajes downed the UACH Toros Salvajes 36-21. Both the Tigres and Potros Salvajes have advanced to the semifinals.

The final game on tap is the 7-2 UACH Águilas who finished second in the Green conference hosting the 6-3 IPN Águilas Blancas, third place finishers in the same conference.

This will  be the game to watch.

Although the Águilas Blancas finished behind UACH in the standings, they won the only game between the two 13-6, late in the regular season.

Both teams finished the season off with wins and both suffered tough losses to the league leading Auténticos Tigres. They both fared well in interleague play with teams from the CONADEIP league.

There is not much to separate the two. This one is tough to predict.

Kickoff: Saturday November 12 6 PM (8 PM EST, 2 AM CET)
