LIVESTREAM Finland: Helsinki Roosters @ Porvoo Butchers August 4, 17:30 CET, (5:30 pm, 11:30 am ET)

The Porvoo Butchers (3-5) host the Helsinki Roosters (5-3) in this crucial late-season Maple League matchup.

The Roosters currently sit as the fourth and final playoff seed while the Butchers are just one spot back. An upset today could help them keep their playoff dream alive with only four weeks left in the season.

The Roosters are coming off of a big win against the Helsinki Wolverines two weeks ago in a defensive battle. In that game, homegrown defensive lineman Christer Berg played well for the Roosters as he has all season. Linebacker Taavi Aronpaa, Kaleb Wezdenko, and veteran Cam Gruel have also been playing well lately. In the secondary, Emory Polley and Nolan Bernat hope to get their hands on any errant passes as the Butchers like to throw the ball deep often.

Offensively, quarterback Bryce Stancomb and an up and down Roosters offense will look to find their rhythm against a young Butchers defense.

The Porvoo Butchers come into this week looking to pull off an upset and maybe, just maybe get back in the playoff picture. Quarterback Brandon Gwinner has been playing well this season. The dual-threat passer threw for three touchdowns last week but was held in check on the ground. Expect him to get the ball to former Tennessee State running back Seth Rowland and veteran Mikko Seppanen often.

Defensively, veteran Timi Nuikka, Anthony Figueroa, and the rest of the Butchers will have their hands full against a talented Helsinki offense. If Porvoo’s defensive line can create some havoc, they could pull off the upset and help their playoff positioning.
