LIVESTREAM Germany: Berlin Rebels @ Dresden Monarchs, Aug. 13, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 09:00 am ET)

In a game with huge implications for both teams, the Berlin Rebels (3-3-1) travel to Dresden Saturday, August 13, to face the defending champion Dresden Monarchs (3-4) as the German Football League resumes action after a two week break.

Both teams are vying for the fourth and last playoff spot. They trail the third place Berlin Adler and fourth place Cologne Crocodiles both of whom have 4-3 records.

The last time these two faced each other, on June 25, the Monarchs came away with a crucial 27-23 win in Berlin.

Since that win, Dresden has lost to the Potsdam Royals (27-23) but beaten the winless Dusseldorf Panther 21-0. Berlin on the other hand, has won three straight games since that loss beating the Panther 55-13, the Berlin Adler 49-44 and the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 33-28.

The Monarchs will be a different team this time around against the Rebels with the return of starting quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels who was injured in the opening game of the season and was expected to miss the rest of the year. He played in the win over Dusseldorf but only threw a meager 101 yards and a touchdown. However, he completed 13 of 19 passes. His presence will no doubt revitalize the offense. has shown the ability to hurt defenses with his legs as well as find receivers Isaiah Amaechi who leads the team with 31 catches for 450 yards and nine touchdowns as well as Darrell Stewart Jr (Michigan State NCAA D1) and Anthony Brooks. Running back David Baum is also a solid player and has rushed for 547 yards in the seven games.

Linebackers Florian Zur Neiden and Andrew Mccleroy aim to contain a Rebels offense that has been lighting up defenses this season.

Berlin quarterback Donovan Isom leads an exciting Rebels offense onto the field. The Rebels passing attack has averaged 295.4 yards a game behind the second-year passer who has thrown for 2.033 yards and 20 touchdowns. Isom’s massive 6’5 250-pound frame makes him hard to bring down as he can extend plays and find receivers downfield. Isom will surely target receiver Robert Downs III who has 33 catches for 787 yards and 10 touchdowns along with Nigel Westbrooks who leads the team with 828 yards receiving on 38 receptions and eight touchdowns. Speedy French running back Meril Zero is also a key to this explosive offense.

Defensively, veterans Daniel Docal and Paul Morant lead a Rebels defense onto the field. The two experienced defense backs hope to get their unit playing better as the Rebels are currently giving up 36.7 points per game.
