LIVESTREAM: Germany – Cologne Crocodiles @ Potsdam Royals – May 13, 4p (10a EST)

The Cologne Crocodiles (1-0)  head into Potsdam to face the Potsdam Royals, Europe #17, (1-2) in a German Football League early season matchup Sunday, May 13.

The Royals, newly promoted to the GFL this season, opened the year with a convincing 56-0 win over the Hildesheim Invaders. They were brought down to earth in back-to-back losses to the Dresden  Monarchs, 45-34 and 42-24.

The last time these two teams faced each other was in Germany’s second division, GFL2, in 2016, when Cologne prevailed twice, 37-19 and 16-13. The Crocodiles won the GFL2 North that year and advanced to the German Football League. Potsdam achieved the same feat last season.

Cologne opened their 2018 season with an impressive 32-14 win over the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes.

Potsdam quarterback  David Austin Gahafer has thrown for 714 yards and nine touchdowns in three games with  Danish receiver Frederik Myrup Nielsen as his main target. Nielsen has caught 20 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Tyvis Smith has averaged just over 101 yards a game and has scored three touchdowns.

Cologne running back Shayeen Edwards carried the ball 28 times in the win over Kiel for 108 yards rushing and two touchdowns while quarterback Bradley Strauss threw for 131 yards. His backup Jan Weinreich completed seven of 13 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Receivers Dominique Martin and Benjamin Mentges also scored touchdowns.
