LIVESTREAM Germany: Potsdam Royals @ Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, June 4, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am ET)

The Keil Baltic Hurricanes (0-1-1) are playing at home for the first time this season and looking for their first win of the German Football League season Saturday, June 4 when they face the unbeaten Potsdam Royals (2-0)

Although the Hurricanes are winless so far, it’s clear that they are a much-improved team. They were able to tie longtime GFL powerhouse, the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions 14-14. Last week they held the reigning champion Dresden Monarchs to just one touchdown and a pair of field goals in a 15-6 loss.

Linebacker Quinlen Dean out of Marshall University who had 14 tackles against the Monarchs and eight in the tie game with the Lions has been a key to a defense that has allowed just 29 points in two games.  Meanwhile quarterback Andrew Dion has thrown for 474 yards and two touchdowns with Khris Vaughn as his favorite receiver with 11 catches for 145 yards. However, the Hurricanes ground game has struggled, and produced just 84 yards in the two games.

The Royals meanwhile, after losing in the semifinals last season, seem to have greater goals in mind based on their performance so far this year. They followed up their 24-21 upset of the defending champion Dresden Monarchs with a 51-17 thumping of the Berlin Adler

This performance was led by Potsdam’s new quarterback, Chris Helbig, who has thrown for 598 yards and seven touchdowns in the two games. If they beat the Hurricanes for a third straight win, the Royals will be viewed as the favorite to come out of the North Division this season.

However, a victory by the home team would turn the GFL North into a five-way battle
