The Dresden Monarchs (2-0) will host longtime rivals, the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes (1-2) Saturday, June 8 as the German Football League rolls into its fourth full weekend of play in the 2024 season.

The last time these two teams faced each other was in 2023 when Dresden came away with a 43-19 victory.

The Monarchs opened the season by trouncing the Paderborn Dolphins 38-7 and then beat the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions 21-7. Meanwhile Kiel matched their win total from 2023 by beating the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions in their opening game doubling up on them 28-14. They then were beaten 21-19 by the Paderborn Dolphins and by Potsdam 56-23.

Dresden quarterback Brock Domann has thrown for 677 yards and six touchdowns and he has spread the ball around with four Monarchs receivers in the top 10. Ricky Smalling has 11 catches for 222 yards and three touchdowns while Jordi Torrededia has nine receptions for 157 yards and a score. However the Monarchs rushing game leaves a lot to be desired. The team is 14th in the league having rushed for a total of 139 yards in two games.

Hurricanes quarterback Nate Hayden has thrown for 489 yards and six touchdowns in the three games with Isaiah Harris as his main target. Harris has  hauled in 17 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns. The Kiel ground game has been solid with Lorenz Rotermund rushing for 331 yards and three touchdowns.
