LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Ravensburg Razorbacks @ Allgäu Comets, Aug. 1, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am ET)

The Allgäu Comets (1-7) return home Saturday looking to keep their survival hopes alive when they host the Ravensburg Razorbacks (5-3) in a key GFL South matchup. While Ravensburg is firmly in the hunt for a playoff berth, Allgäu is fighting to avoid the bottom of the standings, making this regional rivalry important for both teams as the regular season enters its final weeks.

Razorbacks looking to stay on playoff course

The Razorbacks arrive in Kempten full of confidence after a dominant 66-8 victory over the Straubing Spiders, one of their most complete performances of the season.

Quarterback Broghean McGovern threw seven touchdown passes and finished with 554 passing yards as the offense piled up more than 600 total yards. William Enneking, Adrian Terwart and Tim Müller each topped 100 receiving yards, while Lennies McFerren added two rushing touchdowns to give Ravensburg balance on offense.

The defense was equally impressive, forcing six turnovers with three interceptions and three fumble recoveries while limiting Straubing to a single touchdown.

Comets fighting for every win

The Comets return to the Illerstadion after a difficult 56-6 loss to the unbeaten Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, but the final score did not diminish the importance of the games still ahead.

Head coach Mark Priegnitz’s team remains locked in the battle to avoid relegation, with every remaining contest carrying significant weight. The lone bright spot against Schwäbisch Hall came when Benedikt Schulz scored the team’s only touchdown, while the coaching staff praised the effort despite playing with a short-handed roster against the South Division champions.

The Comets will need a much stronger four-quarter performance this week if they hope to spring an upset.

First meeting provides motivation

The first matchup between the teams ended in a convincing 65-20 victory for Ravensburg, with the Razorbacks building a 41-6 halftime lead behind an explosive offensive performance.

That result gives the visitors confidence, but it also provides extra motivation for an Allgäu team eager to deliver a much better showing in front of its home fans.

Playoff push meets survival battle

The stakes are high for both clubs.

The Razorbacks know another victory would strengthen their playoff position while keeping pace with the top teams in the GFL South. Meanwhile, the Comets can ill afford another defeat as they continue trying to climb away from the bottom of the standings.

With one team chasing the postseason and the other fighting to extend its season, expect an intense battle in Kempten despite the contrasting records.
