The Dresden Monarchs (11-0) put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they host the Ravensburg Razorbacks (8-3) in the final weekend of the German Football League regular season, with the visitors still fighting for second place in the GFL South.

Monarchs look to finish the job

Dresden has already wrapped up the GFL North title and home-field advantage for the playoffs, but there is still one major regular-season goal left: finishing 12-0.

The Monarchs return from a bye week having scored 400 points while allowing only 132 through 11 games. Quarterback Rocky Lombardi and the offense now get one final tune-up before the postseason against a Ravensburg team with plenty to play for.

Once the game is over, Dresden will receive the trophy for its first GFL North championship since 2021.

Razorbacks have second place in sight

The situation is straightforward for the Razorbacks. A victory in Dresden would secure second place in the GFL South and a home quarterfinal. A loss would leave them third behind the Pforzheim Wilddogs.

That gives Ravensburg every reason to come out aggressively against the league’s only unbeaten team.

The Razorbacks have actually scored slightly more points than Dresden, putting up 407 through 11 games. The difference has come on the other side of the ball, where Ravensburg has surrendered 186 points compared with the Monarchs’ 132.

Familiar opponents meet again

There is also recent postseason history between the teams. Dresden eliminated Ravensburg in a tight semifinal last season, giving the returning Razorbacks another reason to circle this matchup.

For Dresden, Sunday is about keeping its rhythm and carrying an unbeaten season into the playoffs. For Ravensburg, the stakes are immediate.

The Razorbacks need one more win to bring the opening round of the postseason back home. To get it, they will have to become the first team all year to knock off the Monarchs.
