Sunday sees one of the most pivotal matchups of the year in Great Britain as the 7-1 Bristol Aztecs play host to the 6-2 London Blitz in Filton. The stakes are high as a Bristol win would eliminate the Blitz from playoff contention and solidify the Aztecs’ place in the postseason.

The current top-seeded Aztecs are on a six game win streak, including a huge upset at home to the previously-unbeaten Warriors. The game saw KK Brooks (USA, University of Pennsylvania, NCAA DI) run the show with four touchdowns, while the Aztecs defense managed to hold the South-London based powerhouse to just 14 points, by far their lowest score of the season.

The Aztecs’ lone defeat came in a 28-16 away fixture to the Blitz, who have steamrolled every opponent other than their London rivals.

London Blitz’ last win came in a 79-0 domination of the Kent Exiles, who have not come close to a win all year, with a points differential of -438. London’s last game was the second rendition of this year’s London derby, in which the Warriors won 41-14.

The Blitz will look to repeat their previous performance against the Aztecs in order to upset the number one seed and potentially force the Warriors out of the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.
