The Bologna Warriors (2-5) will host the Lazio Ducks (3-4) in today’s matchup as Italy’s Division 1 winds up regular season play.

Both the Ducks and Warriors are in the hunt for the fourth and final playoff spot as this weekend marks the final games of regular season play.

The Ducks head to Bologna after a convincing 34-14 win over the Milano Rhinos. Matt Hazel’s play on both sides of the ball has propelled the Ducks into playoff contention, as the former NFL wide receiver has been one of the league’s most exciting players to watch. Hazel’s 10 receiving touchdowns and 858 yards, combined with his defensive impact make a case for MVP.  Look for Hazel and his quarterback Luke Casey to be in sync as this could be their final game playing together.

Defensive tackle Giacomo Insom will need to play well against a Bologna Warriors team that loves to run the ball behind a strong offensive line. Defensive back Mark Simone aims to keep playing well as last weeks pick six should give the defensive back some confidence going into today’s game.

Bologna’s defense expects to defend its home turf as French defensive back Brian Billy is eager to make some plays in what could be his last game in Italy. Physical linebacker Paolo Ricchiuti should help contain the Lazio running game. At the line of scrimmage Andrea Nadalini aims to give this Warriors defense some pass rush and disrupt Lazio’s efficient passing game.

Offensively, the Warriors are looking to bounce back from a poor performance against the Firenze Guelfi on June 5th. Expect quarterback Nick Rooney to be accurate and find his go to target Mattia Parlangeli. On the ground, bruising back Maxym Berezan could be in for a big day against an undersized Lazio defense. In the return game, Gabriele Sassoli s dangerous as he currently sits third in the league with 384 kick return yards.

The last time these two met the Warriors won 42-27 in an exciting back and forth game. Fans can expect another excellent game in this one as both teams are in need of a win to get into the playoffs.
