The Bialystok Lowlanders (5-1) will host the Tychy Falcons (5-2) in this highly anticipated Polish Football League Semifinal.
Both of these teams were seen by fans as favorites for the Polish Bowl in the pre-season. Now they meet in what should be a highly competitive playoff matchup.
The Lowlanders and coach Baker have been able to weather a storm of injuries to finish the regular season with only one loss. Athletic quarterback Derrick Evans Jr. brings big play potential to this offense as the big armed lefty can make defenses pay with his arm and his legs. Expect for him to target French Receiver Benjamin Lolomede and his core of Polish playmakers often against this physical Tychy defense.

Jamie Cumberbatch leads the Bialystok secondary out on the field today. The hard-hitting safety will have to tackle well to contain a potent Tychy running game. Coach Baker and the Bialystok defense will have to prepare for both a Laparish Lewis led run-based offense and a spread passing attack quarterbacked by Gabriel Losada. Look for Bialystok’s twin brother defensive duo Eryk Paszkiewicz and Konrad Paszkiewicz to make some big stops for this Lowlanders team.
Do-it-all athlete Laparish Lewis stepped in at quarterback for the Falcons last week using his arm and legs to manufacture a 21-7 win. The defensive back has been pressed into quarterback duties after starter Gabriel Losada suffered an arm injury earlier this month. Losada‘s status is questionable for this game. If Losada can play, expect this Falcons offense to throw the ball over 30 times from spread formations, testing this Lowlanders secondary. However, if Losada’s injury persists and Lewis remains the signal caller, we should see a more run-based attack featuring screens and lots of carries for talented Polish running back Janek Szwej.
The Falcons defense shutdown the Krakow Kings last week in the wild card round allowing only seven points. Jacek Sikora leads this fierce defensive line in a crucial postseason battle. The veteran Sikora is eager to get pressure on Evans and help send his squad to the Polish Bowl.
With a trip to the Polish Bowl on the line the 2020 runner ups Bialystok Lowlanders are determined to return to the big game in search of redemption. Standing in their way is an experienced Falcons team looking to make a championship run of their own.
