LIVESTREAM Spain: Mallorca Voltors @ Badalona Dracs, April 3, 11:30 CET (11:30 am, 05:30 am EDT)

The Badalona Dracs (5-1) will face the Mallorca Voltors (2-4) Sunday, April 3 at home in Barcelona in a game in the Spain’s National League of American Football that was originally supposed to have been played on April 23. The Dracs are now playing France’s La Courneuve Flash in the Central European Football League on that date.

The Dracs are coming off three straight wins having beaten the Zaragoza Hurricanes 42-28 a week ago after downing the L’Hospitalet Pioners 54-14. On February 27, Badalona earned a 35-13 win over the Mallorca Voltors that was far tougher than the score indicates. Badalona broke open a well fought ball game with two third quarter touchdowns, one on a midfield fumble recovery, to secure the win. Badalona had two easy wins to open the season beating the Pioners 48-3 on opening day, following that up with a 49-7 whipping of the Zaragoza Hurricanes. But they ran into a buzz saw when they played the Barbera Rookies on February 13 who surprised them 35-20. This was their first loss to a Spanish team during a regular season game in five years.

The Voltors enter this game following a stunning upset of the league leading Barbera Rookies a couple of weeks ago. Mallorca handed the previously unbeaten Rookies their first loss of the season in that game. This win followed a pair of losses, 48-19 to the Zaragoza Hurricanes and then the tough 35-13 loss to Badalona They had dropped the opening game of the season to Zaragoza, losing 41-35 and lost 47-0 to the Barbera Rookies before whipping the last place L’Hospitalet Pioners 28-3.

So it’s anyone’s guess where Mallorca head coach Jesus Sanchez’s young team stands today. Although they are out of playoff contention, they can play spoilers by beating the Dracs today, keeping them in second place in the East Conference. That would mean they would have to face the undefeated Osos Rivas (West Conference leaders) in the Spanish semifinals.
