LIVESTREAM: Spanish Semifinals – Murcia Cobras @Badalona Dracs, Sunday, May 12, 12p CEDT (6a EDT)

The Badalona Dracs (9-0) and Murcia Cobras (7-2) will face each other in the Spanish League of American Football semifinals Sunday, May 12 in Barcelona, in a rematch of the 2018 title game.

The Dracs had to rally from 19 points down in last years championship final to defeat Murcia 33-26.

The two teams met once earlier this year with Badalona winning 49-26.

Badalona advanced to the semifinal after blanking the Zaragoza Hurricanes 49-0 while the Cobras beat Madrid’s Osos Rivas 64-41.

On paper, this is a no-brainer to predict, Badalona is an offensive juggernaut averaging 52 points a game while allowing a mere 7.3. Badalona QB Hunter Correll leads an offense that is averaging 52 points a game while the defense has been giving up just 7.3. His top receiver, Guillem García led the league in scoring. Another key to the Dracs offense is WR Taylor Ekström. Linebacker Terrell Woods leads a solid defense which also includes Jorge Hernández, Jorge Ruiz and Felipe Archila.

The Cobras generated 36 points of offense per game while surrendering 20. Behind the passing of quarterback Adam Salvadori, who threw five touchdown passes and ran for two more in the quarterfinal win over Osos Rivas. Receiver Alex Holmes caught four of those touchdown passes as Murcia outscored the team from Madrid 30-13 in the second half for the win.

The situation in 2018 was similar. On paper, the Dracs were the better team. And Murcia almost pulled off the upset.

Anything can happen at playoff time.
